* When we get conscious of the Holy spirits prescience in us, there are many things we wouldn't say or do.

When we speak in an unknown tongue we're not talking to men, we areare talking to God. In other words God has given us a divine means to speak to Him supernaturally. Paul goes on to say "... In the spirit he speaketh divine secrets" that's why no man can understand you when you pray in tongues, you talking divine secrets with the Father. I believe Satan can't understand you either that's the primary reason the devil fights tongues so hard because he can't get in on the conversation. He can't know what you're praying about when you're praying mysteries with the Father so he fights it every way he can.
There's so much value in speaking divine secrets with God, that's why He gave the church this divine supernatural means of communication with Himself.
*The Holy spirit is not the one praying, He's helping you pray by giving you utterance in your spirit. Our understanding doesn't have anything to do with praying in the spirit vs14.
* When you pray in tongues, your spirit man is in direct contact with God who is a spirit.
Continuing to pray and worship God in tongues helps us to be ever conscious of His indwelling presence and this affects the way we live . John 14:16-17 . In our daily lives we tend to break loose our temper, say all sort of things we shouldn't. But that doesn't need to happen.Believers act in the flesh because they are not conscious of the HolySpirits abiding prescience within them.There's so much value in speaking divine secrets with God, that's why He gave the church this divine supernatural means of communication with Himself.

2. A means of spiritual edification. 1 cor14:4.
Paul encouraged the Corinthian believers to continue the practice of speaking with other tongues in their private worship and in their prayer life as a means of edification (building up oneself).
The word edify could also mean charge, we could paraphrase 1cor4:14 like this " he that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifies himself, builds himself up or charges himself up like a battery." As we pray in tongues we are charging up our spirit by the power of the HolyGhost. The word edification isn't talking about mental or physical edification. This verse is talking about a wonderful supernatural means of spiritual edification and it is available to every believer. Whatever edifies or builds up a person spiritually will also help him mentally and physically. Jude20 tells us if your spiritual battery runs down you get it charged by praying in the Holy Ghost. It benefits you as it builds you up and strengthens you in your spirit man.
Speaking in tongues is for your own spiritual edification. Notice that Jude didn't say praying in the Holy Ghost will give you faith. No, faith comes by hearinghearing and hearing by the word of God Rom10:17. But praying in tongues will build you up on your most holy faith.
*The HolyGhost who lives in us gets us ready for things to come, and one means by which He does this is when we pray in other tongues.
3. Praying in tongues eliminates selfishness in prayers.
Most times when we pray with our understanding we pray selfish prayers, prayers about matters that concern ourselves, and our loved ones and sometimes we make prayers that are unscriptural and actually change things that are not the will of God and His best plans for us.
*praying in tongues is spirit-directed prayers it eliminates the possibility of selfishness entering into our prayers. Praying in tongues gives us the ability to pray out the perfect will of God.

Acts 10:45-46 ,an account of what happened when Cornelius and his household received this supernatural ecperience.Vs46 "...speak with tongues and magnify God..." The word magnify means to make something bigger. God can be magnified or made larger in our estimation and speaking in tongues is one means whereby He becomes bigger to us. As humans we face tests and temptation always, as we begin to pray in tongues we magnify God, He becomes bigger in our life and when we face temptations we have an added advantage to pass the tests resists temptation.
